An early morning phone call confirmed for Raymond Kalra what once felt like a long shot – he had been selected for a competitive internship with NBC’s The Today Show. Out of more than 500 applicants nationwide, the ʳɫÊÓÆµ State journalism and emerging media student was one of only four chosen for the internship, which runs from September to April. The news came just days after his second-round interview, in a call that began as a routine follow-up.

Lateefah Id-Deen, associate professor of mathematics education, was appointed to the U.S. National Commission on Mathematics Instruction (USNC/MI), which is housed within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, D.C.

ʳɫÊÓÆµ researcher Andreas Papaefstathiou has received a three-year, $799,651 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to investigate the nature of nuclear matter through collisions of particles at high energies. The findings from Papaefstathiou’s research will help elevate the study of particle physics in the context of nuclear collisions at ʳɫÊÓÆµ State, as well as help improve the understanding and interpretation of data coming out of the proposed Electron Ion Collider at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York.
