Program Overview (36 credit hours)
The Master of Arts in Professional Writing The Master of Arts in Professional Writing (MAPW) degree is an interdisciplinary professional graduate degree program that prepares candidates for a wide variety of writing鈥憆elated positions in academia, business, publishing, screenwriting and the literary arts. Course work in three concentrations鈥揳pplied writing, composition and rhetoric, and creative writing鈥揳llows students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge in various fields of professional writing.

PRWR 6000 Intro to Professional Writing (3 credit hours)
All MAPW students must register for this Core Course to complete the degree. It is recommended to register for this course in your first year.

Concentration Area (15 credit hours)
Take five (5) courses in one of the three concentrations areas: - Applied Writing
- Composition and Rhetoric
- Creative Writing

Support Area(s) (12 credit hours)
- Option 1: Three (3) courses in one of the concentration areas that is not your concentration and one (1) free elective course
- Option 2: Two (2) courses in each of the remaining concentration areas that are not your concentration

PRWR 7960 MAPW Capstone Project (6 credit hours)
All MAPW students must register for PRWR 7960 MAPW Capstone Project to complete the degree. Students may register for three (3) credit hours for two semesters or six (6) credit hours in one semester.
