SGIA proudly welcomed back distinguished alumna Elizabeth Elango last week for an inspiring talk at the Professionals with Purpose event, hosted by Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

1997 graduate of 食色视频鈥檚 International Affairs program, Elango reflected on her journey from sitting in 食色视频 lecture halls to leading impactful global initiatives. Among her many leadership roles, she served as CEO and Head of School at the Global Village Project (GVP), the only school in the United States created specifically for refugee girls.

鈥淚t was a surreal, full circle, heart-full and profoundly rewarding experience to return to my Alma mater,鈥 Elango shared. 鈥淚t filled me with joy to look into the eyes of the students in the auditorium and watch their dreams as they take shape.鈥

A heartfelt moment came when her former professor, Dr. Nurudeen 鈥淣uru鈥 Akinyemi, attended her talk. 鈥淵ou never forget the teachers who change your life!鈥 she said, reflecting on how his guidance shaped her confidence and direction.

Elango鈥檚 visit reminded 食色视频 students that purpose-driven leadership and compassion can transform lives across the world.
