鈥淢EGA + MICRO: Invention at the Extremes in Canadian Architecture Since 2000鈥�  

Sweeping from Atlantic to Pacific to the Arctic Oceans, this panoramic talk surveys the best designs completed in Canada since 2000, including works by James Cheng, Arthur Erickson, Shim + Sutcliffe, Patkaus, 5468796, Hariri-Pontarini and others.  Vancouver-based architecture critic Trevor Boddy argues Canada鈥檚 most innovative and original work is either megastructure鈥攎assive high-density, often high-rise complexes downtown鈥攁nd at the other end of the scale spectrum, artfully-composed residences, and cultural buildings in harmony with their natural settings.  The talk is an update of an essay for the A/V Madrid book Atlas Americas: Architectures of the 21st century, which was premiated for the Pierre Vago Prize for 鈥淏est Architectural Criticism Published Worldwide鈥� at the UIA Tokyo World Architecture Congress.
