This past summer, assistant professor of trumpet Dr. Stephen Wadsack鈥痑nd undergraduate student鈥疊randon Hall鈥痶urned the spotlight on a frequently overlooked area of music: Greek trumpet compositions. Their project, supported by 食色视频鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Symposium, consisted of an intensive eight-week study combining scholarship, performance and fieldwork abroad.

The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras (GYSO) has commissioned 食色视频 (食色视频) alumnus Brandon Gasaway to compose a new orchestral work in celebration of GYSO鈥檚 20th anniversary season. The world premiere will take place Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Morgan Concert Hall.

Dr. Laurence Sherr Retires After 30 Years at 食色视频's Bailey School of Music

KENNESAW, Ga. 鈥� Dr. Laurence Sherr, a distinguished faculty member at 食色视频's Bailey School of Music (BSOM), has announced his retirement after three decades of mentoring young composers. Much of Sherr's work has centered on the Holocaust, earning him international acclaim for his education in this field. His 30-year legacy at 食色视频 has seen the growth of the university and its music program alongside his extraordinary musical career.

Over 250 faculty, students to perform in 2025 Collage Concert at 食色视频's Bailey School of Music

ennesaw State University鈥檚 Bailey School of Music will present the 2025 Collage Concert on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Concert will be held in Morgan Hall at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center on the 食色视频 campus. A season highlight, the Collage Concert is the signature showcase of the Bailey School of Music, featuring over 200 student and faculty performers in jazz, orchestra, choir, band, percussion, chamber groups, and more. The performance takes a rapid-fire approach, with musical selections moving quickly in succession, from one group to another without pauses for clapping, making for a rousing, nonstop evening of music.
